Back to School I Go !

I've Done it , i've signed up for college! I'm taking Executive office assitant with medical & legal. and after researching a bunch of schools and talking to many people ,I decided to go to Compucollege for 67 weeks to get my diploma. So far everything's went really well , all the staff were very nice and welcoming ( and yes i do know they want your money lol ) and seem to have an open-door policy with answers to all your questions.

Also ....did you know? If you are on unemployment or have been on maternity leave in the last five years you qualify for funding from the government ! I sure didn't , but I heard from a friend a week ago and signed up right away .... haha You get half your tuition paid , all of your books , all of your childcare costs, gas , and living expenses while your in school . Why not ,right ? There's also a NB tuition rebate program that allows you to claim 2,000$ a year up to 10,000$ , so maybe when i'm back to work i'll get a check back instead of paying in like I usually do

Classes are from 1-5pm(or 8-12 if you choose the morning) so I just have to get the girls a sitter for five hours a day(still working on that )

I can't wait to start ! I think it will also be good for the girls to get out of the house in the afternoon and hang out with someone else for a change (they must get bored of me at some point lol), and it will be a break for me too.

I'll let ya know how it goes ! ttfn

Hi christa ! thanks !

To find out if you are eligible and more info all you have to do is go to the training , skills and development office between 8-11 or 1-345 and meet with an employment counselor. I actually applied to school first , but I recommend going to talk to the TSD people first (it gets the ball rolling and gives you time to do your research and figure out what course would be good for you ). They are located in the government building on St. Marys street right across from pizza delight and the old worralls furniture (you'll see hte government flag posts )..when you go in the front door go up the stairs to the third floor then you'll see the sign for the office ...

Good Luck and let me know if you have any other questions I can answer!

This is SO awesome! You made a fabulous decision and I think you are going to have a great time going to school and then to work. It's hard to leave the little ones but it is nice for them too... a win win for sure!
